Guardian survey on what Europeans put on chips.

THIS is an unusual one.

Tralee is  one of five places in the island of Ireland that has featured on a respected newspaper’s European wide poll that asks what people put on their chips.

UK news website, The Guardian online, conducted a survey of their readers and surprisingly, Tralee, has featured alongside Irish cities, Dublin, Belfast and Galway.

Over Tralee, there are dots for both ketchup and mayonnaise that are slightly overlapping, which leads us to suspect Tralee has featured because of our love of ‘pink sauce’ – a ‘delicacy’ not found too often outside the town, but called for by locals to smother their chips (and burgers of course!).

Popular toppings in other parts of Ireland are less the exciting options such as salt and vinegar in Dublin and cheese in Galway.

A lot of Tralee people must have took part in the survey to get us on that map!
