A TRALEE man has traversed the hills and walks of the county to bring a great guide to ‘The Kerry Way’.

Donal Nolan has travelled on Ireland’s longest way marked trail, looping around the Iveragh Peninsula, following narrow country roads, forest paths, abandoned coach roads and mass paths, national park land and farmland.

Donal, who was recently appointed Deputy Editor of The Kerryman, has a firsthand knowledge of the hills and his clear and lively guide gives the prospective wayfarer the information they’ll need to plan and enjoy every step.

The trail description is broken down into sections from the first step out of Killarney, through the high passes in the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, into the splendour of the Ring of Kerry, and back to Killarney.

No long-distance walk in Ireland has as many walkers and this guidebook is a light, lively guide to all 200 kilometres, with clear concise instructions in an easy-to-use, practical format.

Containing full colour photos and maps, the routes are graded from 1 (easy) to 5 (difficult), meaning there’s a route for walkers of every ability. Each route is prefaced with a reference summary and descriptions include GPS coordinates, navigation guidance, access notes and short variations.

There is also material on the fauna, flora, folklore, history, geology and place names of each area.
