Our young Camogie players took centre stage this week.

U8 Camogie

Tralee Parnells U8 Camogie team that played Cillard in Caherslee last Friday

U8s Camogie were out in force last Friday night as we welcomed Cillard to Caherslee for their first match of 2020. It was great to get some experience for the girls and they really showed how much they had progressed with some great skills on show. The girls are now looking forward to their fixture with Causeway next Friday.

U10 Camogie

Tralee Parnells U10 Camogie team that played Cillard last Friday night in Caherslee

Our U10s also welcomed Cillard for their first fixture of the season in Caherslee on Friday. What a fantastic display from our girls – we were so proud of them all! They were brilliant- Cillard were low on numbers and out girls gladly took turns to play for the opposition, which was great to see. Huge thanks to David Brick who assembled the goals on his lunch-break and to the amazing team of people who put them all away.

U11 Camogie

Tralee Parnells U10s & U11s that played Sliabh Luachra in Cordal last Sunday

Well done to all the girls that went to Cordal last Sunday for an invitational match vs Sliabh Luachra. What a fantastic turn out we had – 20 combined U10/U11’s! Some of the girls kindly played with Sliabh Luchra which meant everyone got great game time to practice and show off their great Camoige skills!! Well done everyone and big thanks to Covid Officer Claire and all the parents that came to support!

U12 Camogie

Our U12s are playing their Co. Semi-Finals this Wednesday evening 16th September. Our Royal Blue team take on Killarney in Caherslee and our Amber team travel to Dromakee to take on AbbeyKilLix. The girls have been training hard every Friday evening and we wish them and their mentors the best of luck in the semi-finals.

U12 Hurling

Tralee Parnells U12s that played Ballyduff last Friday night

Tralee Parnells 2-3 Ballyduff 5-6
In what was our final game of stage 2 of the U12 league, the boys put in a very strong performance in Ballyduff last Friday evening. While Ballyduff claimed the win, there was nothing between the teams in any part of the pitch. The last quarter in particular belonged to Parnells with Ballyduff under constant pressure to clear their lines. On the night the pressure did not result in enough scorers to change the result but are all very proud of the way the boys played as a team this evening.

Last Monday evening, the Blue team played their final league game against Ballyheigue B in Caherslee. While a more experienced Ballyheigue team edged it on the scoreboard, we certainly were not found wanting in effort, determination and ability. Having all 10 of our U11s on the pitch at the one time was a first for this season and a big stepping stone for next year. The year on year improvements from the group was very clear to be seen. Well done to all the boys.

U14 Hurling
Our U14s will play their County Semi-Final against Ballyduff in Caherslee next Thursday at 6:30pm. Hopefully it will be third time lucky!

U16 Hurling
Our final opponents are now known – we will play St. Brendans in the Plate Final. Fixture details not to hand as of time of writing – mentors will be in touch.

Seniors
There is great excitement and anticipation in the club at the moment as the Senior hurlers are preparing for their very 1st Intermediate Championship Final vs Dr. Crokes in Austin Stacks Park next Sunday at 1:00pm. The team is training hard and no stone is being left unturned in what will be a historical match for the club. It will be live-streamed, so hopefully all club members, young and old, will tune in for the final. On behalf of the club, we wish the Management team, Brian Shanahan, Mark Ryall and Ollie Broughton and the players the very best of luck – Beir Bua!

Thank you

…to all our club volunteers for their efforts so far this year and particularly to our Covid Committee and team of Covid Volunteers who continue to work so diligently across all our teams to ensure every player and all our guests have a safe and well managed environment in Caherslee since the day we started back on the 29th June. If our members did not feel safe coming back to us, we would not have been able to field all the hurling and camogie teams and to welcome visiting teams to Caherslee for challenge and competitive matches.  The motto of Tralee Parnells on all our club crests is “Ní neart go cur le chéile” – Unity is strength – this is so true, particularly in this challenging year of 2020.
