Historic Croke Park Camogie Blitz:
Starting with three matches against girls from Galway, Clonmel and Tyrone, it was a hectic but brilliant day in Croke Park for our under 12 girls on Tuesday the 7th of July. As a very young club, our panel of 18 had a mix of 12, 11 10 and even 9 year olds on the hallowed turf at HQ.
A number of these girls have been honing their skills for years, while some others have only been with us only a few weeks. However, they gave their all in the 3 matches, defended stoutly and battled bravely to mount attacks. For a mixed panel up against established clubs, these young players performed extremely well and the mentors noticed a definite improvement in individual and team performances over our very enjoyable Thurles outing earlier in the season.
Once the official business was concluded, we all got a tour of this magnificent stadium, finishing in the excellent interactive skills upstairs section of the Museum. So lots of great impressions and memories for these girls to bring away from a truly historic day, when Tralee ladies first tussled on the field of Croke Park.
As an added bonus, Munster Camogie arranged for our visit to be filmed IrishTV and we hope to have details soon on when this documentary, on Camogie Development, will be aired on Sky and on other international channels, available to the Irish Diaspora. Our thanks to Carmel who was crucial to the organising and planning of this very successful outing and to Clodagh Begley who admirable fulfilled the role of volunteer referee. Parnells under 12 mentors gratefully acknowledge the support of the club and of our benevolent sponsors at Pro-Plan Property Management whose generous contributions helped keep the trip affordable for our families.
We have some lovely photos of the day on Facebook and also on our blog at http://traleeparnellshurling.blogspot.ie/

Under 12 boys:
Parnells took part in the North Kerry U12 blitz in Kilmoyley Saturday. We beat Crotta and Causeway, drew with Kenmare but Kilmoyley beat us by a point and we were well beaten by Lixnaw. Good day out for the club and more playing experience for the lads.
Munster Hurling Final:
Dermot once again organised a Parnells bus to the Munster Hurling Final, with a game along the way versus Caherline Gaa club in Limerick for a panel of Parnells under 14 players. Thurles on such a day is a great occasion to be part of and we know seeing the stars of the game in action at close quarters is an excellent example and inspiration for our young players. Days like this are hugely worthwhile for the club.
