‘Let’s Aim For The Title Next Year’ Says Tidy Tralee Chairman

Chairman of Tidy Tralee Together, Joe Moynihan, want a supreme effort next year to take the Overall National Tidy Towns Prize.

STRAND Road, Carrigeendaniel, Criolar Na Mistealach and Caherina Cross were the big winners in the Tidy Tralee Awards on Monday night where a call was made to try for the Overall National prize next year.

The event, held in the Fels Point Hotel, also saw local businesses and private residences collect awards for their civic awareness with a special award going to Garvey’s Supervalu for their support of the organisation down the years.

Chairman of Tidy Tralee Together, Joe Moynihan, spoke of the great achievements over the past year for the local organisation.

“Tralee has not one but three Gold Medals – one in the National, in which we gained five points and two in the Entente Florale. Our aim for next year should be not Gold, but the overall prize,” he said.

Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Jim Finucane spoke of the great honour it was for the town to achieve the success over the past few years and commended the people of the town and businesses for their efforts.

Tourism Officer of Kerry County Council, John Griffin, gave a slideshow of images of the Tralee Tidy Towns efforts over the past few years, CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance and Michael Scannell of Kerry County Council also spoke of their pride that the town has achieved so much over the past year.
