TRALEE Tidy Towns is asking businesses in town to have a look at their premises to see what can be improved upon.

2023 was a phenomenal year for the Tralee Tidy Towns Committee achieving its eleventh Gold Medal and the highest ever increase in points. This has generated such goodwill towards the town which is fantastic and has given everyone a great boost.

For 2024, the challenge is to retain what was achieved in 2023 and with a bit of luck and some more hard work exceed it.

The work that is carried out;  street cleans, planting projects, art projects to name some are all to enhance the overall appearance of the town and its surroundings.

For business owners Tidy Towns Chairperson Brendan O’Brien is asking businesses to review the appearance of their property and see can it be improved upon.

“We’re asking does it need paint work? Does it need masonry works? Does it need doors or windows replacing? Is the front façade clean and swept? Do you make use of planters e.g. Window boxes, hanging baskets?” he said.

“If there are changes or improvements that can be made and you need assistance, please get in touch with us here at Tidy Towns, we have resources available to assist you. Also, if you have a vacant property in the town centre, we have a number of suggestions as to how it can be enhanced.”

“Members of our committee or I would be delighted to meet with you and answer any queries you may have over the next two weeks. We appreciate your support as we prepare for the next adjudication,” added Brendan.

Tralee Chamber Alliance has indicated a positive response to the ask which went out through their communications.

“We issued the communication from Brendan and pretty much immediately had businesses coming back asking what they can do, which is fantastic,” said Tralee Chamber Chief Executive, Colette O’Connor.

|We’d like to see more coming in and if anyone has any queries or isn’t quite sure how they can participate please do get in touch with a member of Tidy Towns or with us here at the Chamber,” added Colette.
