THREE Tralee men are once again embarking on a gruelling challenge in aid of worthy charities in a few weeks time.

The 2023 Tom Crean Dingle Peninsula Challenge is organised by Kieran O’Callaghan, Patrick O’Sullivan and Daniel Bohan and aims to raise funds this year for the Kerry Cancer Support Group, Down Syndrome Kerry, and other local charities. Over the past three years, they have raised approximately €100,000 for various charitable causes.

On August 25/26, they will embark on a 24-hour journey, circumventing the Dingle Peninsula through walking, kayaking, running, cycling, climbing, and swimming.

This year, the organisers are excited to welcome three additional teams – Docusign, Salesense and Xintec, adding even more energy and enthusiasm to the event.

The 24-hour challenge will kick off at 10 pm on Friday, August 25. Starting from Blennerville (Tralee), we will walk/jog the Dingle Way to Inch Beach/Annascaul Rivermouth, covering 30 km.

From there, they will cycle 22 km to Dingle, paddle 8 km in Dingle Harbour, and run 10 km from Dingle to Ventry Beach.

The journey continues with a 40 km cycle from Ventry Beach to An Baile Breac car park, followed by a 5 km climb up Mt. Brandon (963 m) and descent to the Pater Noster Lakes.

They will swim in Pater Noster Lake and descend to Faha car park before cycling 30 km from Faha to Dingle Town via Fermoyle.

The challenge will culminate at 10pm on Saturday, August 26, after covering a total distance of 138 km (85 miles).
