A TRALEE woman beat two Irish Olympians yesterday to win an Irish senior cross-country title yesterday.
Shona Heaslip of An Ríocht athletics club won the title at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Co Dublin.
Heaslip overtook Ciara Mageean and Kerry O’Flaherty towards the end of the eight-kilometre race for the unexpected victory in a time of 28:13.
In doing so, the 22 year old Kerry woman has gained an automatic qualification spot on the Irish senior team for next month’s European Championships in Chia, Italy.
Here’s how she reacted to her win on the Athletics Ireland Facebook page.
