HERE’S something special.

A Tralee mother got a shock last Saturday night, when her son came back from Australia after three years and surprised her at her workplace (see video below).

Susan Curran was working in Cassidy’s Restaurant at the time when her workmates, who were in on the surprise, concocted a story to get her upstairs where 21 year old son Daniel was waiting.

“It was a great surprise because he wasn’t supposed to be home until June for my daughter Natasha’s wedding,” said Susan. “I was only talking to him the week before and he told me he wouldn’t be coming home and he’d be doing travelling over Christmas in Asia,” she continued.

“He gave me a good fright alright. My legs couldn’t stop shaking. The restaurant was packed and everyone was looking on wondering what was going on. One guy said ‘is it your son or what’,'” said Susan from The Meadows, Oakview Village.

Susan had been over to Australia to see Daniel 14 months ago, but his father Pat, a plumber by trade, hadn’t seen him in three years.

“We told him to come down because there was something that needed fixing in the restaurant, so when he arrived and saw Daniel he was in shock,” said Susan.

Daniel and his girlfriend Genevieve Keane, are staying in Ireland until December 30 before heading off again, so it’ll be a happy family Christmas for the Currans this year.

“We’ll have great celebrations. But I have one more daughter in Australia, Amanda, my ‘Care Bear’ I call her, and if she came home it would be complete, but she can’t unfortunately,” said Susan.

The pressure’s on now Amanda!
