FORMER Tralee Dynamos and current Cork City star, Billy Dennehy, last night netted a second half hat-trick which took him 36 minutes to complete in a 4-1 victory over Drogheda United. (Video Below)
Dennehy was the leesiders saviour in Turners Cross on the night where they trailed at half-time 1-0 before the winger got the ball rolling with an exquisite free kick.
After Dennehy’s intervention, ten minutes later, another former Shamrock Rovers player, Karl Sheppard, put City 2-1 up.
The hat-trick was on with seven minutes remaining when, Dennehy, coolly slotted home a spot kick.
Then, in the final minute of extra-time, he claimed the match ball with a low shot just outside the box.
Speaking after the game, Dennehy was delighted with what he had achieved.

“It was my first hat-trick for City. I know a lot of the lads in the dressing room and to have their signatures on the ball is special,” he said.
This was Dennehy’s second hat-trick in the League of Ireland and the 17th by a Cork City player in the top division.
Billy and his brother Darren, have been mainstays for Cork City over the last two seasons and are household names in the League of Ireland.
The win helps Cork City keep the pressure on league leaders Dundalk, who sit four points adrift at the top with a game in hand.
