GARVEY’S Tralee Warriors are facing another anxious wait, after the decision to overturn a points sanction against them, will now be appealed.

Last week, Warriors won their appeal against a points deduction imposed for incorrectly registering American, Andre Berry. They were docked two wins (six points) by Basketball Ireland for playing Berry in victories over UCD Marian and Eanna.

But last week, Warriors were successful in their appeal to the independent National Appeals Committee. However, the MNCC (Mens National Competitions Committee) have decided to appeal that decision. Tralee Warriors issued the following statement on the matter this afternoon.

“Tralee Warriors confirm with disappointment that the MNCC (Mens National Competitions Committee) has decided to appeal the decision of the independent National Appeals Committee to Sports Dispute Solutions Ireland. Tralee Warriors will continue to deal with the matter in the appropriate manner and will not be making any comment in relation to the process or the dispute itself at this time”.

Warriors are currently on top of the Men’s Superleague table on 39 points followed by Belfast Star on 36. They play Moycullen away on Saturday night.
