11 Additional COVID-19 Cases In Kerry, 543 Reported Nationally

THERE were 11 new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

There were 16 additional deaths and 543 more cases reported nationally. Three deaths occurred in March, 12 in February and one in January. The median age of those who died was 88 years and the age range was 59 – 96 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 59.6 per 100,000 people. There have been 88 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 6.

Kerry is the county with the fourth lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days (after Leitrim, Cork and Kilkenny). The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 155.3.

235 in Dublin, 50 in Kildare, 39 in Donegal, 31 in Meath, 28 in Galway and the remaining 160 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

There have now been 226,358 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,534 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 340 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 85 are in ICU. There have been 15 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Wednesday (10 March), there have been 570,391 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
• 409,662 people have received their first dose
• 160,729 people have received their second dose
