NÓTAÍ NA mBAN
The start of a new and wonderful year……We hope that all of our players, coaches, parents and admin are having a well earned break.

We had a fantastic year on and off the pitch… the girls had days out and the best day was our trip to Croke Park to support the Kerry ladies under the joint management of our own club man Declan Quill.

We won KLGFA Club of the Year in 2019 and will have our award  for this in the near future.
We did Gaelic4Girls which the girls enjoyed and brought in a few new recruits from this.

We participated in the ‘One Good Club’ programme. We were awarded with a plaque at National level on ladies All Ireland final day. Frank O’ Connor accepted this on our behalf on the hallowed turf.

Many thanks to our sponsors in 2022, where would we be without you!

Firstly, Eleanor and Roy of Sandy Feet Farm thank you so much for sponsoring two sets of jerseys for our U12s and giving money to treat them. You are probably the most generous couple ever. We appreciate everything you do.

Thank you to Darren Horan of Stoves4U who kindly sponsored a fab set of jerseys for our U14s and   offered also to sponsor another set.

Tax Assist also kindly looked after our U14s with a generous donation and also provided boot bags for them.

Continued below…

.

Laura of Collins Equestrian Centre sponsored kit bags for the U14s also. They were spoiled rotten. Thank you!

Finally to our parents and families in the club thank you for helping the girls enjoy their trip to Féile with your generosity.

Compliments to everyone on their commitment to their daughters. There’s a lot of dropping and collecting involved and trips to matches but you give them 100% support.

Also a huge thanks to our coaches . Without their commitment the full schedule of games across all age groups would never have been possible.

We had a busy schedule with girls competing from U12 up to seniors, starting in January of 2022 with training and still playing in November.

We look forward to to an exciting 2023 both on and off the pitch. We wish our players, members, management, volunteers, supporters, community and sponsors a very happy, peaceful and healthy 2023.

U12 GIRLS
The year for our U12s began back in January training indoors in the MTU Sports Academy for a number of weeks before heading outdoors.

As our numbers were strong we opted to play two teams for competition but always trained as one. In adhering with strict guidelines in all competitions we had to name our strongest players first – the teams were Kerins O’ Rahilly and Strand Road Blues. Both teams participated in three competitions over the year.

KERINS O’ RAHILLY TEAM
•North Kerry Division 1 -Shield winners
•Co. League Division 2 -Beaten in semifinal
•Town League Division 1 -Runners Up

STRAND ROAD BLUES
Our girls had a tough year coming up against some very strong teams. We took some heavy defeats but also lost out narrowly on a number of occasions. It is a credit to these girls that they always came off the pitch with a smile on their faces. There will be better days ahead for them.

ABBEYDORNEY BLITZ
This was the only opportunity we had to play everyone on the one team. We topped our group but went down by a couple of points to the host club in the Cup Final – a super effort by all of our girls.

Both teams played approximately 20 games and all of these girls got full game time, not the odd 5 minutes on the pitch. It is very important for all parents to understand this. It is not about winning. It is not about first or second team. It is about the girls development and the best way for this is game time.

All children are different. All children develop their skills at different times and all children need to play at their level so that they can get to the next.

It has been a privilege to coach such a wonderful bunch of girls.  The U12 management would like to thank the girls for the huge effort they put in and the respect they always showed and for having fun.

Thank you to our U12 Strand Road manager Mary and also Caroline and Ricky. To our overall management team of Tricia, Mary and Rachel thank you so much.

We had some good days and some bad days but we always had fun and a laugh. An absolute privilege to work with you all.

Thank you to ladies secretary Shirley ladies liaison officer Frank, registrar Karon and treasurer William  for your full support throughout the year with everything.

To Eleanor and Roy of Sandy Feet Farm…. we were hoping to get one set of jerseys for the girls this year but that wasn’t enough for you so you went and got two sets !!! Wonderful people and fantastic sponsors of our club for years. Thank you!

Finally on behalf of all of us in the U12 Girls I would like to congratulate our Senior team and management on winning the Munster Club Championship for the first time in our history.

Well done to Haulie and everyone involved. We wish the best of luck to the team and management in the All Ireland semi final in January. Céirín Uí Rathaille Abú!
Go raibh maith agat!

— Adrian Doody, U12 manager

All shopped out but still full of energy are Kerins O’ Rahilly U12s

ICE SKATING – U12s DAY OUT
Great day out last Friday as the girls got their skates on , took to the ice in Fota and discovered the fun of ice skating. What a cool day out it was…
We then headed to Mahon for food and a little retail therapy.
What a fantastic bunch of girls! We could bring them anywhere. They are a credit to themselves, their families and our club. We are so proud of each and everyone of you!

Gliding on the ice are Kerins O’ Rahilly’s Olivia Crean and Yvie Ross
Kerins O’ Rahilly’s Mia Stokoe and Abbey Donegan on ice
Kerins O’ Rahilly’s U12s hit the Alpine Skate Trail last Friday..
Beautiful smiles from Kerins O’ Rahilly’s Ruby Foley, Meabh Kennedy, Olivia Crean, Erin Collins and Yvie Ross who enjoyed a day out in Fota
Aisling Donnelly and Emma Onyekwere… their faces say it all!
Chloe O’ Donoghue having a ball on their end of year day out with Strand Road
Strand Road‘s Lauren Hurley and Rachael Ahern
Mia Stokoe, Sarah McGrath and Rachael Ahern
Kerins O’ Rahilly’s Lauren Doody and Mary Clifford who had a fantastic day out with the U12s in Fota

U14 GIRLS
The U14 girls had a very good year. The number of girls playing was very encouraging and their skill set improved greatly as the year went on with large numbers showing for every training session . After a rough start to the year we won the shield in Div 4 in the County league in Killarney after a great performance from all the team.

Lily Breen who is on the Kerry U14 panel for 2023

Next up was the North Kerry league . We were put into Div 3 in this and again the girls showed great determination and skill to win the cup.

We played in the town league next and we managed to win the shield again in this .
We also won our division in Féile  and went off to Mallow for a great day of football. Again after a bad start the girls showed great character to reach the final where we were  beaten by a very strong team from Limerick.

— Mark Higgins, U14 manager

Proud to be donning the green and gold in 2023 for the Kerry U14s is Aoife O’ Connell.

U14 KLGFA PANEL
Huge congrats to Allie Kerins and Aoife O’ Connell on making the U14 Kerry panel. Also huge congrats to Lily Breen registered with St. Pats. A great achievement ladies, we are all very proud of you and wish all three of you the best for 2023. We look forward to watching  you and supporting you as you don the green and gold for Kerry.

Well done to Allie Kerins who is on the 2023 Kerry U14 panel

U16 GIRLS
The U16’s had a good year in 2022. We started our year in March in the Co. league. We played in Div. 2 which is a high stanard and finished mid table for the most part playing without our captain Aoibhín O’ Connor MacCarthy who was a big loss to us.

The North Kerry league was delayed some weeks in starting. Again we faired well only losing one game on the field of play to Corcha Dhuibne and that was due to 2 late goals which changed the result.

In The Tralee town league we finished top of the league table just ahead of A.Stacks which was a great achievement for our girls. Our U17 girls (backboned by u16s) qualified and played in The County Chamionship B Final v Castleisland Desmonds in Cordal.

We lost on the night by the narrowest margin in what was a hotly contested battle.
Thanks to Liam Hassett (Trainer), Katie Hassett and William Daughton for their time during the year. There are some great players among  this team and hopefully they stay playing over the years ahead.

— Frank O’ Connor, U16 manager

MINOR / SENIOR LADIES
Our ladies teams are getting  stronger and stronger each year in comparison to a few years ago.
The standard of player is very good.

Our 2022 minor team had a very good year and we possess  top quality players at this age group culminating in a county league final appearance this losing out to a very strong Scartaglin team.
Rory Kerins , Senior manager
Danny Leane , Minor manager

BEST WISHES
2022 marked the first time our senior men won the Munster Club title. We are very proud of you!
Best wishes to our senior team and management as they head to the play on the hallowed turf next Sunday, January 8th to play Kilmacud Crokes in the All Ireland semifinal.

SENIOR LADIES MEDAL PRESENTATION

Our senior ladies gathered in the presence of chairperson Brid Mc Elliott manager coach Rory Kilgallen and ladies secretary Grace Falvey  family and friends on Tuesday 27th of December in our old clubhouse  Chamfers.

It was lovely to see the team all come together 23 players attended. Not everyone could make it due to other commitments.

.

The ladies received their North Kerry winning medals for 2022 where they beat Dingle in a thrilling game of great football on a very windy and rainy night back in October under lights.

Brid started off with a few words thanking all the girls for their commitment throughout the year and proceedings went ahead with Rory calling the girls one by one to be handed their medals.

The ladies  had some food and got to sit and have a chat about the year that was so successful for the ladies reaching two finals and winning one.

The team are so hard working and can not wait to get started for 2023. We would like to thank the supporters who have been at every game wind rain and snow all year.

A huge thanks to Mary Smullen and Martha Kilgallen for organizing teas coffees and food for everyone. From all on the Senior ladies team we would like to say a huge thanks to Rory John and Wayne for their commitment throughout the year. Garvey’s Tralee Warriors last game of 2022 ended in disappointment with a 92-86 defeat at the hands of UCC Demons at the Mardyke Arena in Cork on Friday night.

The loss further compounds the playoff hopes of the defending champions who end the year with just four wins and leaving them in danger of not making the playoffs in March.

They sit two wins behind the team in fourth place on the ladder, Energywise Ireland Neptune, after the Cork side also suffered defeat at home to University of Galway Maree on Friday night.

The Warriors v Demons game was a cracking contest that rocked and rolled with the teams level or barely separated throughout.

The Warriors opened the first quarter in style with Matija Jokic and an inspired Kieran Donaghy firing them into an early lead.

Tala Fam Thiam had Demons back on terms with a quick fire four scores and Kingsley Nwagboso added to push the hosts ahead. Donaghy continued to torment Demons and added another two scores from inside.

When Donaghy landed a three and Dre Jackson followed his lead it looked like giving the Warriors a narrow quarter time lead but Michael Randolph Jnr. opened his account with a double to edge the hosts 22-20 ahead at quarter time.

Randolph Jnr. continued his scoring run early in the second but Jackson replied in kind with a brilliant display of offence, scoring at will from inside and out.

Matija Jokic was also causing havoc in the Demons defence and chipped in a hat trick of scores to ease the Warriors back ahead. Randolph Jnr., Nwagboso and Kyle Hosford combined for Demons to keep the Warriors lead in check but Jokic was again on the mark and Jackson rounded out an excellent quarter with another major and two trademark drives to see the Warriors lead 47-44 at the long break.

The sides went score for score in a frantic third quarter with Jackson and Jokic continuing to find the basket from either side of the arc for the visitors while Thiam, Nwagboso and Randolph kept the score ticking over for Demons.

Dave Lehane arced in a big three for the hosts but when Aivaras Ousis floated in his first score of the game, Jackson was in range again and Donaghy added another, the Warriors were still the team to beat at 70-66 up going in to the final quarter.

Dre Jackson pushed the Warriors further ahead early in the fourth with two brilliant three pointers before Hosford also hit the mark from outside for Demons.

However the Warriors flow of scores began to dry up just as Randolph Jnr. began to find his rhythm and four scores in a row turned the contest around to see the hosts lead by 2 with as many minutes on the clock.

A belter of a three from Scott Hannigan proved to be a decisive score as the Warriors ran into foul trouble.

A tough foul call against the Tralee side extinguished any hope of a dramatic finale and late scores from Nwagboso, Lehane and Hannigan rounded out the 92-86 win for UCC Demons in the end.

Scorers:

UCC Demons: Michael Randolph Jnr. 33, Tala Fam Thiam 19, Kingsley Nwagboso 15

Garvey’s Tralee Warriors: Dre Jackson 28, Matija Jokic 21, Kieran Donaghy 14

• Though brave and resilient in defeat the Warriors now face the reality of mobilising again for a demanding schedule of fixtures in the New Year with five home games against Éanna, EJ Sligo All Stars, Moycullen, Killester and Neptune and three away trips to Ballincollig, Killorglin and UCD Marian and little or no room for any defeats.

Next up for the Warriors is the first of the home games and a cross conference tie with DBS Éanna. Action takes place in the Tralee Sports Complex on Saturday 14th January with tip off at 7.30pm.

These teams are ensuring that clear, accessible information flows are in place between schools, local education support services and national support structures in relation to people arriving from Ukraine.

Information for parents in Ukrainian and Russian on accessing school places is available on www.gov.ie/Ukraine. The Department will continue to publish figures on the enrolment of Ukrainian children each month.
