GARDAI are asking the public to be vigilant against bogus callers after a man defrauded people out of money in Tralee last week.
On Tuesday, January 14, a man called to a house in town claiming to be from Kerry County Council. He said the people in the house owed the Council money for a fine and they handed over cash.
Gardaí are warning people not to hand over cash to people who call to the door claiming to be from a company or local authority and to always ask for identification. Gardai are also asking people to contact them immediately on 066-7102300 if they believe callers are not genuine.
