Senior Ladies: Well done to our senior ladies who defeated Rathmore last Monday in their second game of the senior county championship on a scoreline of Na Gaeil 2-17, Rathmore 4-9.

U14 girls: Our u14 girls had a busy week playing 2 games in the North Kerry League. Firstly they drew with Churchill last Tuesday night and then beat Castleisland Desmonds last Sunday. Well done girls.

U9 boys: Our younger u9 boys hosted John Mitchels in Killeen last Sunday. Moyvane are due to visit us tonight, Monday for a challenge game.

U10 boys: Our U10s headed off bright and early last Saturday morning at 5.45am to participate this year in Celbridge’s All-Ireland U10 Invitational. To say our lads were excited is an understatement and after a brief stop in Obama’s we reached our destination at 9.50am just in time for the Parade of all 32 teams. Unfortunately Mother Nature wasn’t too kind as we had heavy rain for nearly all of the competition.

We started our 1st game against Confey of Kildare and ran out comfortable winners. Our next was against Tulsk from Roscommon where we ran out comfortable winners also. Our final group game was against Sarsfields of Newbridge who were also unbeaten and this game was fiercely contested with us trailing by 2 pts at Ht. Second half was to be a different story as our backs got on top in their duels and our midfield and forwards produced the goods to leave us decisive winners in the end therefore topping our group. We found out our Qtr Final opposition would be the host club Celbridge and this was where we produced our best football of the day to run out very comfortable winners. Onwards to the Semi Final but unfortunately this was to be the end as due to the adverse weather conditions the rest of the tournament had to be abandoned. It was very hard for myself and Gavin having to go in to tell the lads that the tournament was over but we told them how proud we all are of them remaining unbeaten throughout the Tournament. A big thank you must go Celbridge for hosting a wonderful tournament. They left no stone unturned and were fantastic hosts. As for our own group I would like to thank the parents that travelled supporting the lads. Also a big thank you to our coaches Gavin, Matt and Adrian for helping me and finally and most importantly the 17 players who did both us coaches and Na Gaeil Club proud with their display. The future is in safe hands with this bunch.

U13 boys White Team: Our White team played a home semi-final last Sunday evening against Laune Rangers in Killeen at 6.30pm. A showery, windy evening meant conditions were tough and summer football was a distant memory. However our lads got off to flying start leading 0-06 to 0-01 after 15 minutes and the Laune Rangers keeper made two great saves also. In typical Laune Rangers style they never gave up and got themselves back into it scoring 3 points and going in at halftime 4 points adrift on a scoreline of 0-07 to 0-03. The second half was a great battle and again we got a great start by scoring 1-01 to no reply but Laune Rangers came back strong and got 1-02 themselves making it a three point game. Our boys got another point and then Laune Rangers turned the screw with a great goal making it a one point game at 1-09 to 2-05. We fought hard to get two more great points from play to go 1-11 to 2-05 in front and Laune Rangers had a last chance free kick and put it over the bar leaving the game finished on a scoreline of Na Gaeil 1-11 to Laune Rangers 2-06. Thanks to Laune Rangers for a great sporting game. We now progress to the Central Region Division one final, most likely next Sunday, where we face John Mitchels. Venue TBC.

U13 boys Green Team: Our Green team did not play last Sunday as they are in a semi-final awaiting their opponents from a play-off between Austin Stacks and Milltown Castlemaine. Stacks were victorious here so our Green team will now play them in a semi-final with time and venue also TBC.

U14 boys: Last Saturday we took part in the Austin Stacks invitational tournament in Connolly Park. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t too kind in the morning so conditions were tough. Our group was made up of An Gaeltacht and Salthill and it was An Gaeltacht who we played at 10.30am. A slow start put us on the back foot and we found it very difficult to get to grips with the game. An Gaeltacht to their credit played great football and were convincing winners in the end.

Next up was Salthill at 12.00pm and though we started well it wasn’t long before Salthill’s physicality took over and unfortunately we conceded too many goals so it was another loss for our boys. However that meant we were in the Plate competition and it was Nemo Rangers we faced after lunch.

This was an epic game which was nip and tuck all the way. It looked like Nemo had done enough going three points clear but a last kick of the game 13m free saw Danny Kingston hit the net taking the game to free kick deciders.

Five frees each and with Killian Griffin and Shane O Donovan our only two scorers from five it went to sudden death and it was Ruairí Lacey that kicked us into the final with a huge pressure kick. The final was against St.Pats/ Kerins O Rahillys and the first five minutes was 2 points each and then a converted penalty put us in front and to our credit we managed to keep it that way and were worthy winners in the end.

The man of the match went to Gearóid Moynahin who was outstanding in full back. Our captain for the day was Killian Griffin who put in solid performances in every game. Thanks to Austin Stacks for a great day of football and providing hot food for all the mentors.
