Scór: Scór is very much a ’niche’ activity within Na Gaeil. Of course we’re first & foremost a football club, but Scór is the cultural arm of the GAA and is a really great thing to be involved in – especially for kids.

It gives them confidence & is good fun! If you’re reading this & think you might like your child to be involved, please contact Margaret at 086 0855008. Or better again, if you’re a parent with maybe something to offer to our small but enthusiastic Scór committee, please get in touch….

Return of underage training 2024: Our juveniles are back in training for the 2024 season. Contact details for the various age groups are as follows: U5’s – Denis Sugrue (087) 2808719. U7 Training: Our u7s session yesterday was all about games. Games including fun with discs, hand passing and kicking. Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter holidays!

U11 Boys Training: Before the chocolate spree started our u11 boys got in a good session yesterday morning in the MTU. Well done to all the boys!

Senior Men: Yesterday our Senior men were away to Templenoe in Round 2 of the Credit Union County League Division 2. The first few minutes of the game were very stop-start, resulting in neither team registering a score until a free from Dara Devine on 10 minutes put our lads in front.

This was soon followed by a point by Tomás Ó hAiniféin from play and another Dara Devine free leaving us ahead by 3 points to nil after 14 minutes. A super goal-line clearance by our centre-back Ruairí O’Sullivan prevented an equalizing goal before Jack Bourke added our 4th point to leave our lads in a commanding position.

However, Templenoe found their shooting boots and kicked 4 of the next 5 points to leave us with just a single point advantage at halftime, 5 points to 4. The game was probably decided in the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half as Templenoe upped the ante and notched 3 quick fire scores from a 45, a free and 1 from play.

Indeed it could have been worse only for a brilliant double save from John Kearney preventing what seemed like a certain Templenoe goal. Templenoe were successful with the resultant 45, pushing their lead out to 3 points with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Another great save by John Kearney was followed by a number of wides from both teams. Eventually Templenoe added another score to leave them 4 points ahead with 10 minutes left. Our lads rallied, adding points from Dara Devine, Mark Lynch and Peter Doyle but it wasn’t to be their day and Templenoe held on to win by a single point. Final score: Templenoe 0-9, Na Gaeil 0-8.

Team: John Kearney, Enda O’Connor, Ryan O’Neill, Seán Barrett, Peter Doyle, Ruairí O’Sullivan, Eoin Doody, Tomás O’hAinifein, Jamesie O’Connor, Kieran O’Donovan, Dara Devine, Cian Devine, Mark Lynch, Jack Bourke, Jack Sheehan. Minor Co. League: Our u17 boys team registered their 3rd win out of 4 games in the County League last Thursday evening when they defeated Milltown/Castlemaine in a back game in Milltown.
