THERE was a great sense of expectancy and excitement at Coláiste Gleann Lí before the annual awards ceremony on Tuesday.
The 2023/2034 academic year was another strong year of growth for the school in Clash and the annual awards ceremony is a cherished tradition that acknowledges the dedication, perseverance and talent exhibited by individuals within the school community.
The day acknowledges all of the accomplishments of students across the year in the area of sport, academics, sustainability, school ethos, school leadership, social innovation and STEAM.

This year Kaitlyn O’Connell, a fifth year student, was presented with the Michelle Flannery O’Sullivan Ethos Award.
This award is in memory of Ms. Flannery whose untimely death in January 2022 was felt by everyone in the school community.

Michelle was described as a kind, caring, fun-loving teacher who embodied what it is to be a good person, a true lady who was considerate and genuine in all her dealings with others.
Kaitlyn received the award as she has been constantly involved in promoting the school ethos of Equality, Respect, Care, Excellence in Education and Community.
The prestigious Student of the Year award was presented to Peter Duggan. Peter has led the way by showing his commitment to his studies, demonstrating that dedication, hard work and a sense of purpose is a lifelong skill that can achieve so much.

Other awards on the day included Sports Awards which went to Tommy Murray (first year) and Conor Morrissey (sixth year) for their excellent contribution to sports and sporting achievements. The Junior Cycle STEAM award went to Dylan Alder and Senior Cycle to Yevhen Kondrashev.
Both Principal Mr. McGill and Deputy Principal Mr. Fleming congratulated all students present on the hard work and commitment they showed to their studies throughout the year.

The recent passing of Ms. Norma Thompson, School Completion Programme Coordinator was also acknowledged by the Principal on the day.
Mr. McGill added that Norma was a lady of integrity and kindness. Her work meant that she had a significant impact on the lives of countless students in both supporting them and their families.
Through her work she ensured that students were given every opportunity to flourish. He added that the family and friends of both Michelle and Norma were in the thoughts of all present.
Mr. McGill concluded the awards saying that they serve as a testament to the dedication and determination of students and staff, showcasing their unwavering commitment to excellence. Scroll down for list of award recipients and photos…
