THERE are fears of job losses after an interim examiner was appointed to the Irish arm of the ‘Ladbrokes’ Bookmakers business.
The betting company – which has two shops based in Tralee on Edward Street and Market Street – currently employs over 840 people in 196 shops around the country.
They have reportedly been losing money in the country over the last number of years, losing €5 million alone in 2014
The Irish section of the company will then now have its operations reviewed and Ladbrokes says lay-offs are expected at all levels of its operation in the Republic of Ireland.
The time-frame for examinership usually lasts up to 100 days and in the meantime the company says it’s business as usual.
