TRALEE will welcome the ‘Big Blue Box Challenge’ volunteers this Saturday, as they make their way to town as part of a Wild Atlantic Way fundraiser in aid of St Vincent de Paul.
The cyclists, taking part in the Bank of Ireland sponsored event, are set to arrive at the Aqua Dome car park between 1-1.30pm on Saturday.
Everyone will then make their way through the town with a Garda escort, where a there will be a barbecue, bouncy castle, food, Sam Maguire, face painting etc. running from 2pm to 4pm at the Bank of Ireland carpark. This event is completely free, everyone is welcome to attend.
The ‘Big Blue Box Challenge’ involves 35 communities along the Wild Atlantic Way raising cash from Moville in Donegal to Kinsale in Cork.
The cyclists arrived in Kenmare on Tuesday and pass through Cahersiveen, Killorglin and Dingle before reaching Tralee on Saturday. On Monday they’ll head off to Listowel and Ballybunion before going on to Clare.
All funds raised in the Tralee area will be fully used to support the work being done by the local SVP, and will be put towards helping the vulnerable members of the community with basics such as food, fuel and education costs.
