TRALEE Musical Society was celebrating last night as they won two awards at the Association of Irish Musical Society Awards (AIMS) in the Gleneagle Hotel.
They received five nominations in all for their production of ‘The Beautiful Game’ which wowed audiences in Siamsa Tire back in March.
The nominations were for Oliver Hurley (Best Director); Des Hurley (Best Stage Management); Laura Lee Curtin (Best Actress); Gary Murphy (Best Actor) and for Best Programme.
In the end, Des Hurley won for Best Stage Management and Gary Murphy was a winner in the Best Actor category.
Laura Lee Curtin was runner-up in her category, they were second-best in Overall Show and in the Best Programme category. Not a bad return for the night!
Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, lead sponsor of Tralee Musical Society, sent congratulations following the success. The CEO of Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, Paul Foley, said: “Congratulations to Tralee Musical Society for achieving so much success with the production of The Beautiful Game. We recognise the commitment that goes into bringing a production of this magnitude to the stage and it is fitting that the Adjudicators rewarded that commitment at the 2016 AIMS Awards. Tralee Musical Society plays an important role in the community and Bon Secours Hospital, Tralee is proud to be its lead sponsor this year.”
It was a glamorous and enjoyable night as always in Killarney and great praise is due to all the nominees.
