CLUB EXECUTIVE: With an almost full attendance Billy Ryle chaired his first Executive Committee Meeting last Thursday night (2nd Jan) and set the ball rolling for the coming season. Various sub-committees were confirmed for the year with other members to be added shortly. The next meeting has been fixed for next Thursday week (16th Jan).
GAA SUPPORTERS CLUB: John Joe Sugrue informs us that the Kerry GAA Supporters Club are holding their 30th annual social in Ballygarry House Hotel on Saturday 18th January.
This year they will honour the five Kerry players who have won 8 All Ireland Senior Football Medals – our own Mikey Sheehy and Ger Power, as well as Denis Ogie Moran, Pat Spillane and the late Paidí Ó Sé, who will be represented by his son Pádraig Óg.
Tim Moynihan of Radio Kerry will be MC on the night and a drinks reception will take place at 7pm, followed by dinner at 8.30. Music will be by Neilly O’Connor.
Tickets, at €35 each, are available from committee members – the aforementioned John Joe (087 6891217), John King (087 1305474) and John O’Connell (087 2965406). So a night of great celebrations which is not to be missed.
BEST OF LUCK: to both Na Gaeil and Templenoe as they contest their respective All Ireland Junior and Intermediate semi finals on this coming Saturday. Na Gaeil travel to Ennis to play the Mayo side, Kilmaine at 1.30pm and Templenoe throw in a half an hour later against the Galway and Connacht Champions (Oughterard) in Kilmallock.
WELL DONE: And after Seán Quilter made his debut last week it was the turn of Dylan Casey and Michael O’Gara to play their first game with the Kerry Seniors last Sunday (5th Jan) in the McGrath Cup game in Clonmel. And with all the Kerry members being under 20 they ended just two points short of a strong Tipperary Senior side (1-13 to 1-11).
