MEMBERSHIP 2022:  Club Registrar, Bernie Mannix, wishes to thank everyone who have paid their Membership for 2022. She wishes to remind everyone who have not paid that they are no longer in weekly Lotto draw and that they will not be eligible for All Ireland tickets should Kerry get to the final.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: With five full rounds now completed our Seniors are in 4th position on the Co. League Table on seven points behind Rathmore and Spa who are first and second on eight points and Dr. Crokes on 3rd spot, also on seven points. Crokes will be our opposition in round six which has been rearranged to Friday, 27th May in Lewis Road. Before that we will play Rathmore at home in round 7 on the weekend after next (w/e 22/05).

Well done to the Kerry Seniors on their victory in the Munster semi final. Great to see Joe making an appearance again after the injury he picked up earlier in the year. Tough luck on the Kerry U20s, including our own boys Armin Heinrich, Joey Nagle, Adam Curran, Jordan Kissane and Conor Horan, who were just ‘pipped at the post’ by Tyrone in the their All Ireland semi final game in Portlaoise.

B FOOTBALL: Our B Team have a home game in round 6 of the Co. League against Castlegregory on Sunday next (15th May) at 2pm. The West Kerry side are in 8th position on the League Table at present having won two of their five opening games while we are ‘rock-bottom’ having only one draw to our credit so far.

THE C TEAM: Listry 2-10; Austin Stacks 2-9.

Even though we have come out on the wrong side of our three games so far in this season’s  Co. League our C team have continued to show solid improvement  in each game.  We were hammered by Keel in the opening round by 17 points, then we lost to Laune Rangers by just five points in round 2 and in the round three game played in a sunny Listry on last Friday evening (6th May) we lost by the narrowest of margins and were very unlucky not to have come away with a win. All our eleven scores came from play – read what you like into that. We had a very good start and were ahead by 1-5 to 0-3 after 21 minutes. But we gave away some soft scores in the closing minutes of the half when the home side outscored us by 1-3 to a point. This left the sides level at 1-6 each at half time.

The second half was again evenly contested with Listry just outscoring us by that one point (1-4 to 1-3).

All of our 20 players who lined out were outstanding and any of them could be chosen as the Man of the Match.

Team: Brian Horgan, James Quigley, Shane Greensmyth, Craig Teahan, Jack Doyle, Jack McGrath, Evan Foley, Joe Reidy (Capt), Cian Dillane (0-1), Darragh Moriarty (0-1), Kyle Fitzgibbon, Enda Cahill (0-2), James Charles, Seamus Bastible (0-1), David Courtney (1-4).

Subs used: Kaydan Conway (35m) (1-0), Gearóid Kilgallen (37m), David Hannafin (46m), Shane Kelliher (46m), Garry Clifford (49m).

With a bye in round 4 we now have one more round to play and that’s at home to Kerins O’Rahillys on the w/e of 18th June. After that our lads will be eagerly looking forward to the Barrett Cup (the C Team’s Co. Championship).

MINOR FOOTBALL: After going down away to Laune Rangers in the opening round last week our Minors now travel to Ardfert on next Monday evening (16th May) for a 2nd round game in the Central League – throw-in 7pm. In the meantime let us wish the Kerry Minors every success when they take on Cork in the Munster semi final in Austin Stack Park on this Thursday evening (12th May) at 7pm. We have three players on the panel – Colm Browne (who unfortunately is out injured at present), Paddy Lane in the forwards and Michael Tansley as the reserve goalkeeper. The winners will go straight to the Final while the losers have a second chance as they will play Tipperary in the second semi-final in Thurles on the following Thursday (19thMay). The Munster Final is fixed for Wednesday, 1st June at a venue to be confirmed.
