SENIOR FOOTBALL: Fixtures for the first round of the Co. Championship have come to hand with our historic game against Na Gaeil opening the proceedings on Friday night week (9thSept) at 8pm. This will be the first time ever that the two sides are meeting in the competition. Sixteen teams (eight Club and eight Divisional) will be taking part this season, divided into four groups of four. Along with ourselves and Na Gaeil in Group 3 are Mid Kerry and West Kerry. Group 1 is comprised of Dr. Crokes, Kenmare Shamrocks, Shannon Rangers and St. Kierans. In Group 2 we have Dingle, East Kerry, Kerins O’Rahillys and Spa and in Group 4 we have Feale Rangers, South Kerry, St. Brendans and Templenoe. The top two teams in each Group will qualify for the quarter finals which will be knock-out from then on.

 

B FOOTBALL: The Molyneaux Cup (the B team Co. Championship) gets underway on this Friday evening (2nd Sept) with an away game for us against Rathmore B. Throw-in at 6.30pm. The other quarter final games are Gneeveguilla at home to Kerins O’Rahillys; Milltown/Castlemaine at home to Dr. Crokes and Glenflesk at home to Laune Rangers. The winners go through to the semi finals and the losers go through to a Shield semi final to be played on the following Friday (9th Sept).

 

THE C TEAM: The Barrett Cup (the C team Co. Championship) also starts on this Friday evening with a similar format to the Molyneaux Cup. In round 1 (quarter final) we have a home game against Ballydonoghue B with Churchill at home to Annascaul; Keel at home to Reenard and Waterville at home to Currow in the other three quarter finals. All games start at 6.30pm. The semi finals are scheduled for the following Friday (9th Sept).

 

MINOR FOOTBALL: For the first time at Minor level there will now be a Club Championship competition, commencing on this coming Saturday. There will be eight teams in five groups. There will be a quarter final, a semi final and a final in each group. The four quarter final losers will go into a Shield semi final. The quarter final pairings in our Group A are – ourselves away to Rathmore; Kenmare Shamrocks .v. Dr. Crokes; Keel/Listry .v. Kilcummin and Laune Rangers .v. Ardfert. All these games are fixed for this coming Saturday (3rd Sept) at 4pm. The winners will go through to the Club semi final with the losers going to a Shield semi final.

CLUB CARDS: Our Card sessions continue in the Clubhouse on Monday and Thursday nights with the starting time at 9pm sharp.

All at our Card sessions were saddened to learn of the death of Nelly Carmody, a value member of our sessions down the years, who passed away last week (see Sympathy column).

 

CLUB LOTTO: Monday Night’s (29th August) Jackpot, worth €2,050 was not won. The numbers drawn were 5, 10, 15, 27.  The €20 winners were Laura O’Regan, c/o Brendan O’Regan; and Diarmuid Brennan, Keith McKenzie, Joe & Cáit Looney and Mick Laide, all c/o The Club.

Next Week’s Jackpot will be worth €2,100.
