MINOR FOOTBALL: Keel/Listry 0-1; Austin Stacks 1-14.

Not since 2014 when the likes of Jack Morgan, Michael O’Donnell and Jack O’Shea were on the team did our Minors chalk up such a win. That April day nine years ago they held their opposition scoreless. On this Saturday afternoon (4thMarch) in Keel our boys held their opponents scoreless from play – their only score coming from a pointed free in the 3rd minute of the second half. And it wasn’t that the opposition were playing poorly. Every time they attacked they looked dangerous but time after time our boys turned over the attacks. We lead by eight points to no score at half time with seven different players getting on the score sheet.

Both sides had a point each inside the opening three minutes of the second half with Ryan O’Driscoll scoring ours just 23 seconds after the resumption. We then dominated the remainder of the game adding a further goal and five points, Ryan our goal scorer.

Team:  Steven Conway, Pádraig O’Halloran (0-1), Donnacha Horgan, Ciarán Kavanagh, Seán Heaslip, Seán Óg Brosnan, Alex Tuohy (0-1), Fionnán Ryan (0-1), Daniel Kirby (Capt) (0-1), Calvin Casey (0-2), Ronan Carroll (0-2), Thomas Deregee, Ryan O’Driscoll (1-4 – two frees), Cormac Bastible (0-1), David Lucid.

Subs used: Jake O’Connor (ht), Jack Barrett (39m) Liam O’Connell (43m), Thomas O’Connell 43m) (0-1), Barry Nagle  (52m).

We now have home games in the next two rounds against Kenmare/Shamrocks in round 4 (now switched to Wednesday, 15th March at 6.30pm) and against An Ghaeltacht in the 5thround the day after St. Patrick’s Day, while we still await a decision on our opening round tie against Legion which did not take place.

SENIOR FOOTBALL; With wins against Na Gaeil and John Mitchels in the opening two rounds of the Tralee/St. Brendans League Ardfert have now conceded the round 3 tie. That means we will now play John Mitchels in the Final which has been fixed for next Sunday (12th March) in Blennerville with the throw-in at 12.30pm.

The following week-end (19th March) we were due to play Spa in Connolly Park in the opening round of the Co. League but this game has been put back a week. It has now been refixed for Saturday, 25th March at 4pm.
