SENIOR FOOTBALL. Austin Stacks 4-6 (18); Dr. Crokes 2-17 (23).

We got off to the best of starts in this round 6 game of the Co. League played in Connolly Park on last Saturday evening (6th May).

Inside the 2nd minute Greg Horan won the kick-out, found team captain Shane O’Callaghan who passed to Seán Quilter and Seán blasted to the net for a brilliant goal.

But gradually Crokes recovered and by the 8th minute had equalized with three good points. Within minutes they went ahead with a goal and a point.

We reduced their lead to the minimum with our second goal of the game in the 16th minute by Shane O’Callagahn after a brilliant long-ranged ball from Barry Shanahan. Crokes then went on to score five points in succession before a brilliant Greg Horan goal, followed by a long-ranged point from Seán Quilter.

Crokes pointed again on the stroke of half-time to leave them ahead at the break by three points (1-10 to 3-1).

We did slightly better in the second half – scoring eight points to ten for the opposition – but it was not enough to secure victory.

Points from Seán Quilter (2), Donagh McKivergan and Colm Browne and a goal and a point by Shane O’Callaghan was our contribution during this half, which left the game ending in a five points victory for the visitors.

The result leaves us still in 8th position on the League table but that could change after the coming week-end when the remaining five round 6 games are played. Dingle, who are our opponents in round 7 to be played on the week-end after next (w/e 21st May), are away to Ballymac in this round 6 game and they still have their postponed round 5 game to play, at home to Legion which has not been fixed as we write.

After the game Colm Browne was awarded the Celsius Mensware Man of the Match award. And this was only Colm’s 5th SF game since he made his debut in the first round of the Co. League against Spa on the 25th March.

WELL DONE: to our own Dylan Casey who made his Kerry SF Championship debut last Sunday in the Munster Final in Limerick. And inside the 2nd minute of the game Dylan, as he normally does, raced up the field to punch over the first score of the game which set Kerry of their road to well earned victory.

B FOOTBALL. Our B team have now two more rounds to play, away to Ballylongford (w/e 14th May) and at home to Duagh on the week after (w/e 21st May).

THE C TEAM: Austin Stacks 1-6; Rathmore 5-22.

Our C Team came up against a very strong Rathmore side in round 3 of the Co. League played in Connolly Park on last Friday evening (5th May) despite some very great displays by many of our lads. At half time the East Kerry boys were ahead by 3-11 to 1-3. Damien Hogan scored two points with Joey Kinsella on target also and our goal coming in the 23rd minute from Jack Doyle.

Damien and Joey were again on target in the second half with our third point coming from David Leonard. The margin of victory could have been more except for two stunning saves by Tom McLoughlin and Pa McCarthy.

Team: Marc Carmody, Shane Kelliher, David Hannafin, Tom McLoughlin, Chairdhe Fitzgerald, Alain Creagh, Evan Foley, Gearóid Kilgallen, Damien Hogan (0-3 –two frees), Jack Doyle (1-0), Joey Kinsella (0-2), Pa McCarthy, James Charles, David Leonard (0-1), Brian O’Sullivan.

Subs used: Joe Reidy (26m), St. John Hegarty (33m), Adam Conway (48m).
