PEIL FAOI 6/8/10: The Under 6/8/10 medal presentation ceremony and cóisir will take place on Sunday December 9th in the clubhouse. Indeed, we look forward with great anticipation to this final big event of our long, successful and very enjoyable season! An occasion not to be missed!

PEIL FAOI 11: Saturday last saw (perhaps) the most travelled of all our Rock juvenile teams on the road again. The famed Dee O’Leary Tournament, hosted by Cork’s Na Piarsaigh Club, was on our agenda and the victors’ shining silverware was the target. The event has been held yearly since 1979 and the trophy is inscribed with a glittering roll of honour.

The names of Dublin’s Diarmuid Connolly and the O’Rourkes of Dromintee in Armagh are written in silver as former winning captains. Our boys were/are in good company!

After making their way to the final, our Rockie stars faced the might of the home club in strong wind and heavy rain! Not daunted by the elements and reserving their best display of the year until the final hurdle, our heroes proved much the stronger and, with an excellent display of skill, teamwork and tenacity, they won the day. What a day!

Ronan Carroll had the honour of hoisting the magnificent trophy and having his name join such an illustrious captains’ list. The magnificent fifteen satisfied and delighted players dined sumptuously, both at the club and in McDonalds…two meals for the price of one!!!

Agus cén t-ábhar mór cainte a bhí acu? These ambitious footballers talked a lot about….next year’s Under 12 campaign. Many thanks again to our great friends at Na Piarsaigh for their kind invite and excellent hospitality. The relationship between both clubs (this tournament and reciprocally the Lee StrandTournament) has been ongoing for over 30 unbroken years and is highly important to all in Connolly Park.

A great day of fun was enjoyed by all! An painéal buacach: Leon and Jay O’Connor, Max and Gabriel Nosidlak, Liam O’Connell, Ronan Carroll, Eoghan Murphy, Ben Murphy, Gavin Casey, Jake Carmody, Naode Derege, Jack Diggin, Cormac Bastible, Denis Brassil and Ryan O’Driscoll.

Many thanks to the travelling coaches and mentors and especially to Liam Lynch, Morgan O’Connell and Theo Diggin. Mórbhuíochas ó chroí to all players, parents and coaches who were with us throughout the season.

After a great Under 11 season of brilliant football, with trips to tournaments in Kilmacud, Glanmire and Na Piarsaigh (founded in 1943), as well as a plethora of Under 12 excursions, the curtain closes on a busy and enjoyable year. We hope to see everyone again in a short few months when brighter days will be lengthening and luscious green grass will be growing in the cruaghoirt (hard fields) of Connolly, The Bishop’s and The Nuns’ fields!!

PEIL FAOI 15: Our SuperTouch footballers are still basking in the sunshine of a great win in Ionad Barr Feabhais na gCoirríní (Currans). Ár bpainéal buacach: Armin Heinrich, Dean Rusk, Ben Cuiltéir, Brian Mac Eileagóid, Cian Ó Duilleáin, Jordan Ó Cíosáin, Séamus Mac Cathail, Seosamh de Nógla, Gearóid Mac Giolla Ghannáin, Eimhín Ó Foghlú, Seán de Bastábla, Donnacha Mac a’ tSaoir, Conchúr Ó hÓráin, Josh Ó Loingsigh, Donncha Ó Sionnaigh. And these boys are not finished yet! The final competition of the year will be the prestigious Under 15 Tralee Town Championship. Tá trófaí/corn ag feitheamh linn! Ar aghaidh linn, a leaideanna!

CAID FAOI 16: We challenged Ballymac in the Bordcheantar Thrá Lí Tournament (Goup 1) decider in the Strand Road Field on Sunday last. Níorbh é ár lá é!! We congratulate a gallant Ballymac team that defeated us. Our boys led throughout the game but, faraor géar agus ochón ó, were overtaken when it mattered most….in the final moments. ‘Hard luck’ to our boys who battled bravely and brilliantly ó thosach go deireadh an chluiche. ‘Well done’ to our dedicated mentors….Colm Mangan, TJ Sheehan, John Chester and Armin Heinrich on a topsy-turvy year….thuas seal, thíos seal….in which we won the Central League and came up just short in the County and Town Leagues. ‘Ní fál go haer é’, mar a dúirt Jimín Mháire Thaidhg! Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach!

SCÓR: Scór is ón the horizon! Spéis ag éinne?
