National Awards For Two Tralee Pre-Schools

TWO Tralee pre-schools received national awards at a ceremony in Athlone at the weekend.

Mounthawk Montessori School at Mounthawk Roundabout and Maureen’s Preschool & Childcare Centre, Casements Avenue received the National Healthy Ireland Smart Start Award for Pre-schools at Athlone IT on Saturday and are now recognized by the Health Improvement Division of the HSE as a Health Promoting  Pre-school Services.

The Awards were presented by Dr. Cate Hartigan , Head of Health Promotion HSE. The event showcased the work of 31 providers nationally.

“We are delighted to have been two of the Pilot Centres for the Programme which will be rolled out on a county by county basis by the National Childhood Network in partnership with the HSE,” said Director Maureen Quirke.

“Taking part in this programme has given us the opportunity to showcase good practice and highlight any improvements required to ensure children in our early years setting are supported to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviours in early childhood,” she added.

“This has been a huge achievement for our wonderful teams of Early Years Practitioners in both centres, as we mark our 17th year in business,”  added General Manager , Helena Wallace Dowling.
