Bracker Walk Raises Nearly €3,500 For Austin Stacks Club

THE proceeds of the recent ‘Bracker 100km fundraising walk’ were presented to the Austin Stacks Club on Saturday afternoon.

Martin O’Regan of the event’s organising committee, presented Niall, Shanahan, Chairman of Austin Stacks Finance Committee with a cheque for €3,452 at the Bracker O’Regan Monument.

Denis O’Regan, on behalf of the O’Regan family, presented Billy Ryle (who completed the 100km walk in July) with a framed copy of the famous poem, ‘On Bracker’s Road,’ which was composed by Jimmy O’Regan (son of the late Martin ‘Bracker’ O’Regan).

The sum of €3,452 raised in the walk will go towards providing a path to improve access in Connolly Park for people who are disabled or unsteady in movement.

The ten-day walk was organised by Noel O’Connell, Martin O’Regan, Mairéad Fernane. Denis O’Regan and Billy Ryle.
