“Firstly, on behalf of all our team in Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin I would like to thank the Tralee Autism Friendly Town Committee, As I Am and Supervalu for putting together a wonderful training course,” said Mark Hussey, Chief Operations Officer at Cara Credit Union.

“As an organisation deeply rooted in the community we are committed to taking time to understand how we can assist people living with autism, by providing an environment which feels welcoming and safe.”

Tralee Autism Friendly Town Committee with the support of  “As I Am”  are introducing this initiative as part of their ongoing work to improve access for all around Tralee.

Laura O’ Connor from the Tralee Autism Friendly Town Committee, said; “There is still time for other businesses to avail of this training, which is free of charge. Simple changes can have a huge effect. By introducing a quite hour, quite space or simply turning down the  lights and lowering music for an hour a week would be hugely beneficial to families and people living with Autism. Staff training, similar to the training received by Cara Credit Union, gives people an understanding of the needs of those living with Autism.”
