CBS The Green To Play Mercy Mounthawk In All-Tralee Corn Uí Mhuirí Final

WINS by CBS Tralee and Mercy Mounthawk in their semi-finals today has set up a mouth-watering all Tralee Corn Uí Mhuirí Munster Schools football final.

CBS beat Patrician Mallow by 2-12 to 0-7, while Mercy Mounthawk defeated St Brendan’s of Killarney by 2-14 to 0-7. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, February 10 in an occasion sure to draw a huge crowd.

St Brendan’s opened the scoring against Mercy Mounthawk at the game played in Austin Stack Park this afternoon, but the Tralee men sped off into the lead with a flurry of score and when they goaled on 24 minutes they were 1-9 to 0-1 ahead.

By half-time they were 1-11 to 0-2 ahead and looking sure to advance. St Brendan’s tried to come back in the second period but Mercy Mounthawk were not to be denied.

Over in Killarney, Tralee CBS powered their way to another final with an impressive display. The Cork side stayed in touch and after 20 minutes trailed by just three points (0-5 to 0-2).

However a CBS goal on 23 minutes put daylight between the sides and they went in at the break leading by six (1-7 to 0-4).

The Tralee lads kept Patrician at bay in the second half and when they got a second goal with ten minutes to go they sealed their place in the decider, pulling away for a 2-12 to 0-7 win.
