A HEALTHY crowd of locals turned out in Spa Community Centre on Monday night to celebrate the history of Churchill Pearse Brothers GAA club and commemorate the 1916 rising.
Churchill has the distinction of being only one of two GAA clubs in Ireland named after the 1916 patriots Padraig and Willie Pearse.
The event included the reading of the proclamation, the raising of the tricolour and the singing of the national anthem.
Young performers from the community showed off their talent by performing 1916-related songs and poetry, while an exhibition of club photos and memorabilia was also presented by Churchill GAA Chairman James Wrenn.
It was a great event for the club and was well attended by people of all ages from the locality. Scroll down for photos…
