Connect Kerry Funds 15 New Tablets For Moyderwell School

THE pupils at Moyderwell Mercy Primary School will have new technology to learn with thanks  to a local businesswoman.

Margaret Kissane of Connect Kerry ran a number of events in the past year and she nominated Moyderwell Mercy to benefit from the proceeds from the raffles held.

“Last year we decided on Moyderwell Mercy as our charity partner for the year. We decided to start choosing schools as the beneficiaries of our raffles which were held at the Connect Kerry Ladies Lunch, Hair and Beauty Awards and Women In Business Awards.

The result of which enable us to raise €3,800 which provided the bulk of the funds for the 15 tablets. So now they have one tablet between two pupils in each class and all the educational apps are downloaded on them,” added Margaret.

“We really appreciate Margaret’s generosity to the school and are delighted to be associated with Connect. We have bought the tablets for out IT programme and pupils will benefit from them. Margaret’s son Thomas is a past pupil here who went on Mounthawk and we were delighted to have him with us.”

Meanwhile, Margaret Kissane is now inviting other schools from around the county to apply to be the beneficiary for the coming year’s Connect Kerry events.

To apply, email margaret@connectpublications.ie and outline the reasons why your school should be chosen. Margaret will assess the entries and put the top 1o entries to a public vote in August.
