THE Town Park said farewell to its caretaker this week.

Michael O’Regan, from Currovough,  finished up in the job after 14 years in the job and his fellow workers gathered in the Park to mark his retirement.

“It was six and a half hours a day, six days a week. I’d start at 7.30am and finish at 9.30pm with breaks in between. I enjoyed it all, you did your work and no-one bothered you,” said Michael.

Michael was responsible for making sure everything ran smoothly; picking up rubbish, emptying the bins, alerting the gardai if people were misbehaving and other tasks.

Colm Lynch from Tralee Municipal District wished Michael the best in his retirement and presented him with a piece of crystal to mark the occasion.

Asked if he had any plans for retirement, Michael said he hopes to pick up another job.
