Credit Union Warns Members About Phishing Scam

CARA Credit Union is warning about a phishing scam which is targeting members.

The newly-rebranded Credit Union with offices in Tralee, Killorglin and Castleisland, put a post on its Facebook page yesterday where they said members who have been targeted will receive an email from an address that seems legitimate, and will be titled something around a special loan and/or winning a competition.

“Many of these scams are designed to infiltrate members’ computers, monitoring their online interactions and recording personal details with a view to gaining access to personal financial accounts,” reads the post.

Cara Credit Union never asks members to provide their Online Banking or cuAnywhere App login details through email. In addition, Cara Credit Union will never disclose members account details or personal details via email.
