UP to 50 new jobs will be created if a multi-million-euro redevelopment of Dingle Distillery gets the green light from Kerry County Council next month.

A decision on an application for the development at Milltown, Dingle — which involves demolishing a small section of the existing distillery, the construction of over 1,700 square metres of additional floor area, a new circular, three-storey tower with reception, visitor centre, bar and viewing balcony and extended production and storage facilities — is due by June 13.

It is envisaged the proposed expansion will grow the current workforce by 50 positions. The Dingle Distillery opened its doors in 2012 and produces whiskey, vodka and gin; it recently launched its first core whiskey; Dingle Single Malt.

In doing so it becomes one of few Irish distilleries to produce a core single malt product made entirely with its own spirit.

Some 50,000 bottles of the triple distilled, non-chill filtered Dingle Single Malt have been produced and will be sold domestically as well as exported to key international markets including the UK, Germany, France, China and, later this year, the US.

The distillery expects to produce 100,000 bottles of Dingle Single Malt, and half a million bottles across the distillery’s portfolio, by 2023.
