Mixing Moments opens at Kerry County Museum on November 11.

KERRY’S Local Creative Youth Partnership, the LCYP at Kerry ETB is thrilled to announce a unique exhibition opening at Kerry County Museum at 2pm on Saturday, November 11.

The exhibition, aptly named ‘Mixing Moments’ is a heart-warming showcase of the incredible work that transpired during a project of the same name.

Mixing Moments brought together 112 individuals from diverse backgrounds, including younger and older members of Ukrainian, Irish, African-Irish, French, Indian-Irish, and English families.

Through a series of engaging workshops and events, the power of music, art, and sound provided a canvas for participants to come together to express their experiences of life using imaginative processes which included art, drumming and sound recording.

It was a wonderful opportunity for people from different communities to come together using creativity as the common ground, where mixing, forging new connections, and making new friends were the goals of the day.

Deirdre Enright, Creative Youth Co-Ordinator at Kerry ETB, who leads the Local Creative Youth Partnership project, reflected on the collaboration and its profound impact, “Working collaboratively allowed the LCYP to reach out across the county to establish partner bases where people could meet near and in the new places participants call home. Our community partners do amazing work every day, and this project was an opportunity to use creativity in a way that was meaningful for the younger and older participants who got involved, sharing a creative journey that has the power to live on in us forever – this was at the heart of the project.”

Mixing Moments was facilitated by a creative team of artists and arts professionals, including Martin Scharer and Teresa Galvin, musicians,  David Fortune, visual artist and audio video expert Niall Foley.

This LCYP-Kerry ETB project came to life through a collaborative effort with Áiseanna na hÓige Dingle, Killorglin Family Resource Centre, Maine Valley Family Resource Centre Castlemaine, Tralee International Resource Centre, South Kerry Development Partnership, Kerry County Museum, Tralee Bay Wetlands and the Lakeside Café. Funding was provided through the International Protection Integration Fund at the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth (DCEDIY).

Members of the public are invited to visit the exhibition, which will be open from Saturday, November 11, to Friday, January 5, 2024, at  Kerry County Museum.
