Five Additional COVID-19 Cases In Kerry, 349 Reported Nationally

THERE were five new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

There were 18 additional deaths and 349 more cases reported nationally. Seventeen deaths occurred in March, and one in February. The median age of those who died was 78 years and the age range was 55 – 102 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 53.5 per 100,000 people. There have been 79 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 5.

Kerry is the county with the fourth lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days (after Cork, Kilkenny and Leitrim). The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 148.1.

156 in Dublin, 23 in Meath, 19 in Donegal, 15 in Louth, 14 in Kildare and the remaining  cases are spread across all other counties.

There have now been 227,663 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,552 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 355 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 88 are in ICU. There have been 36 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Saturday (13 March), there have been 615,934 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
• 451,589 people have received their first dose
• 164,345 people have received their second dose
