THE Garda Representatives Association (GRA) has deferred the planned strike action for tomorrow.
Earlier tonight, Garda Sergeants and Inspectors decided they will show up for work tomorrow after their representative body, the AGSI, reached a deal that will see members balloted on proposals from the Labour Court.
This means that AGSI’s 2,500 members will be available for duty. The Garda Representatives Association (GRA), which represents over 10,000 rank-and-file members, were meeting earlier and also announced they will defer their strike action.
An Garda Síochána had earlier issued a public information notice to advise the public on arrangements in the event of a strike. Tralee was the only garda station in the county which was to stay open during the action.
Of course An Garda Síochána will get their pay increase!
As “An Garda Síochána” will be needed to beat down “the people” who protest or strike.
