THE Minister of State at the Department of Health and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Anne Rabbitte, and Minister for Education, Norma Foley visited the Inspired service on Monday and confirmed grant support of €198,000 for the organisation.
A local day service dedicated to supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities, Inspired was originally founded in 2014.
Liz Maher CEO gave Minister Rabbitte and Minister Foley a sneak preview of their upcoming 5 year strategic plan which will be launched in January 2024.

Participants chatted and spoke at length with both Ministers with some highlighting their achievements over the past year. During her visit, Minister Rabbitte commended the organisation for its commitment to excellence, hailing Inspired as an exemplary model of best practice.
Commenting on her visit, Minister Foley said; “I’m very pleased to have yet another opportunity to visit Inspired and showcase to my colleague the excellent work undertaken by Inspired every single day. I’m especially pleased that €198,000 has been secured to support the work of Inspired and its innovative plans for the future.”
The plan outlined the organisations dedication to person-centredness and human rights and reflected the opinions and feedback from staff, administration, the Board of Trustees, participants and their families, stakeholders and indeed the HSE.
For the first five years Inspired relied solely on the good will of the founding parents and volunteers from the local community.
In 2019, Inspired secured funding from the HSE under Section 39 of the Health Act 2004. The organisation has since achieved remarkable growth and success, serving participants from all over Kerry.
