A POP-UP shop created by Inspired in Tralee at the Festive Markets back in December, has raised funds for Recovery Haven Kerry and Kerry Hospice.

Inspired, based at Basin Road, Tralee, are a community group who work with adults with intellectual disabilities. The aim of the group is to empower the participants to achieve their full potential within their community, to explore employment opportunities and to enjoy an active role within their hometown and workplace.

They created ‘Gifted’ which was filled with sponsored hampers, handcrafted wooden gifts and homemade soaps and candles and sold the products as part of the Festive Market which was held at the Island of Geese over two evenings in December.

The participants of Inspired were delighted to present both charities with a cheque for €1,099 each following the success of their festive fundraiser.

Gifted came about because of the participants desire to give back to their local community.

Lauren Walsh Hayes said; “The idea came about because we wanted to do something for Recovery Haven and Kerry Hospice. We chatted about a few ideas and decided a gift shop would be a brilliant fundraiser.”

Manager at Inspired, Liz Maher, said; “Gifted had a steady flow of eager shoppers and we were delighted with the success of the handcrafted and homemade gifts. Our participants put a huge amount of time, work and effort into ensuring the fundraiser was a success. Fantastic achievement by all involved.”

Inspired would like to extend a special word of thanks to all the local businesses who generously donated hampers to the stall. The hampers were well received and added to the offerings of the pop-up shop.
