Our under 6s and 7s trained indoors together this Sunday morning past at our Ballyseedy complex.  The weather was too extreme to be outdoors. The boys and girls had a great session full of full and laughter.

Under 8 and 10 Girls

Our u8 & u10 girls had a good turnout for Sunday morning training in wet conditions.

A quick warmup followed by a game. Everyone had great fun with some fantastic skills on display. There be training again next Sunday @10:30, new players are always welcome.

Under 12 Girls

Thanks to Brian Nammock for taking last week’s training. We have consistently good numbers at training and this has helped to form a great team spirit. We have only a couple of weeks left  and we must thank Abbeydorney for inviting us to their Blitz Sun October 1st. It will an opportunity to show off our hard work in training.

Under 13 Girls

We faced Dr Crokes at home in Ballyseedy on Friday evening in the County Championship Semi Final.

The game was played in ideal conditions and in front of a large crowd of supporters who came to support both sides.

We began the game brightly and points from Hannah Roche, Caoimhe Nammock and a Ciara Harris free and a goal from Amy Noonan had us ahead leading up to the short whistle only for a fortuitous Crokes goal right on the stroke of half time, reduced their deficit to 3 points.

The second half began well and our fullback line of Alannah Doody, Aisling Kelliher and Roisin Locke were defending well under immense Crokes pressure and it paid dividends as a Caoimhe Nammock goal after 13 minutes put some daylight between ourselves and the Killarney side.

The forward line was working hard, Caoimhe Lennon, Kayla Kirwan and Áine Dowling never stopped running.

Grace O’Regan’s kick outs were the springboard for all our attacks and our defence was working non stop and our halfback line of Natalia Hennig, Ava Byrne and Nicole Mc Cannon who were resolute and ensured that our lead was protected.

We finished out the game very strongly and it took the crossbar on two occasions to prevent Anna Marie Perkins from adding to the scoreboard.

As the final whistle approached Millie O Mahony after some great work by Sophie Maloney and Maddison O Meara finished off an extend period of pressure with a fine goal.

Final Score John Mitchels 3-04 Dr Crokes 2-03. Our girls can be extremely proud of how they played and great credit is due to all 20 girls who lined out. Congratulations to the girls for making the final.

U15 girls who faced Kerins O Rahillys on Thursday evening.

Under 14 Girls

It was a proud moment for the John Mitchels u15 girls team when they came out onto the pitch in Austin Stack Park on Tuesday night last, to take on local rivals Kerins O’Rahillys in the u15 D Championship Final.

After a long season, which has already seen the u14s capture 3 trophies between their Green and Gold teams, it was hoped that they could add another trophy to the cabinet.

It was always going to be a difficult task against the Strand Road club who had a number of strong players, and the team were well warned about their threat.

Conditions were horrible though, with driving wind and rain, which made playing ball difficult, and the Mitchels struggled to impose themselves in the game, with O’Rahillys getting early scores and a well worked goal when Mitchels failed to clear.

The second quarter of the game saw Mitchels really come into the game, with Laoise O’Sullivan, Ava Sharma, Amy Noonan and Hannah Roche working hard, but despite a few missed chances, a goal and a point from Lisa O’Shea left just six points in it at the break, with Mitchels also a player up due to a red card for a Kerins O’Rahillys player.

The second half had Mitchels against the strong wind though and combined with direct running from the O’Rahillys key players, the game went away from us.

A number of injuries to key players also affected us at the wrong time, and as the game moved on, Kerins O’Rahillys were deserved winners on the day. A disappointing result, but the team has been excellent all year and will take the learnings from it.

There was better news for the u13s as they won their u13 Championship semi-final against Dr Crokes on Friday evening and they won through to their final, joining the u15s in reaching a County Championship Final. They will face either Austin Stacks or Fossa in the Final, with the other semi-final played on Sunday.

North Kerry League: The u14 Gold Team will take on local rivals St Pats in their first game of the North Kerry League when they play in Ballyseedy on Tuesday next, at 6pm in the floodlit pitch.

Under 16 Girls

The U16 girls had their first Round of U16 Division 2 Thursday evening away to Beale. We kicked off well with our defence holding strong getting quick ball into our forwards adding to the scoreboard.

Into the second half once again we managed a few scores with Beale always returning a score. Towards the last quarter our girls fought hard with some work ons coming from the game.

Beale took the win. We go again Monday evening away to Kerins O’Rahillys in Ballyrickard pitch Throw in 6:30pm.

Under 9 Boys

John Mitchels U9 Boys had their training session cut short on Sunday Morning last due to the bad weather. In fairness to the Boys we got about 40mins in but unfortunately it just got too bad. Training continues this Wednesday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm in our Sports Hall.

Under 11 Boys

This week the Under 1 boys had two challenge games. We hosted Ballymac on Thursday night and we visited Kerin O Rahillys on Sunday morning. It was great to get games at this time of the year and on both occasions we had a fantastic turn out. The coaches were very proud of the boys as they played some great football. Many thanks for Ballymac and Kerin O Rahillys for two very sporting games. Training continues next Sunday at 10.30

Under 13 Boys

All players trained extremely hard in anticipation of the Division 1 town final, the game was postponed due to inclement weather, and we now await the re-fixture

Under 15 Boys
