Senior Men

Mitchels 3-10

Churchill 0-11

Scorers:

Shane Connor 1-1

James Duggan 0-4 (1F)

Wayne Conway 0-2

Cian Holden 1-1

Alan Donohue 0-2 (2F)

Peter Murphy 1-0

Great to see an attacking display today! Our forwards moved brilliantly, opening holes in the Churchill defence which created a lot of scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Work rate was excellent epitomized as Peter Murphy went sprinting to the corner, after a lost cause pass, and coming out with ball in hand to set up another attack.

Shane O Connors goal was well taken after a brilliant move down the right flank creating the opening for Shane to finish well after 12 minutes.

Pat Kearney carried a lot of ball and was a nuisance for the Churchill defense when running from deep and creating overlaps and distributing the ball well.

Some good ball into our corner forwards Alan and James, made sure we kept Churchill on their toes and with the runners coming through we tormented their defense time and time which lead to our second goal, Peter murphy with a great run through the middle, caught a hand pass and brilliantly finished to the top corner without breaking stride. Half Time 2-6 to 0-6.

The second half was predictable with Churchill wanting to start strong and they did going straight through from the thrown in and popping over a point after a foul on the edge of the square.

This should have made us wary but it didn’t stop there as they went through the middle again and we conceded a penalty. Churchills Joe Lenihan , who impressed for them, stood over the ball, however keeper Peter Nammock dived to the right and clutched the ball in his arms and hand passed out of defense to safety, straight away we attacked and scored from this .. the fine margins !!

Cian Holden was as industrious as ever constantly probing the Churchill defense and was a constant thorn but he got his just rewards kicking 1-1 in particular a well taken daisy cutter to the net being the highlight of his day.

A first County League start for young Brian o Donnell at corner back meant we had plenty of youth in defence but he was sturdy whilst also offering an outlet at kick out time.

John Carmody came on and added some pace to our attack and Wayne Conway showing signs that the old dog still has a few tricks with a brilliant outside of the boot point in the first half and a defensive interception late in the second half to frustrate Churchill once again.

Conor Hurley was immense today. He defended ferociously and assisted our attack at every opportunity, making important tackling contributions around the D and close to goal. His work rate was exceptional today and helped create the platform for the win.

Another valuable two points in the push for Div 2. Well done management and squad

Great to see such huge improvement in our young superstars each week. So keep up the good work & don’t forget to keep on practicing!! John Mitchels U9 Boys training continues every Sunday Morning from 10.15am coaches on site from 10.00am.

Under 11 boys

This week we travelled to Killarney Legion for our most recent County Go Game. Another fabulous night for football and we had a storming first half with plenty of scores. There was a lot of miles in the legs with a lot of our boys involved in a lot of sports this week so the energy dipped in the second half and Legion took over the game in the third quarter.

But credit to our lads who never gave up and put in a fine display in the last 10 minutes. Thanks to Legion for a very sporting game. Next up for us is Austin Stacks next Thursday at home.

U13 boys division 1 champions who beat Legion on Sunday afternoon.

Under 13 Boys

U13 Division 1 County League Champions

Mitchels 4-14

Legion 2-11

CHAMPIONS!!!!!

A brilliant performance from our young guns who were expecting a huge black lash from legion after we defeated them in Killarney two weeks ago

Every single player played their part in this victory – backs midfield and forwards worked hard all game to negate the Legion threat

congrats to squad and management

Under 13 Gold team.

Our U13 Gold team played in the semifinal of the Championship on Wednesday evening in the summer sun, Firies were our opponents and both teams battled hard for the early dominance. We went in a point down at the first half water break and the boys came out fired up for the second quarter taking some lovely scores with a great team goal.

We went in all square at half time on a scoreline of 1:05 apiece, the heat didn’t slow us down and we turned up the temperature ourselves.
The second half saw our bench bring fresh legs and energy to the occasion, helping us get in front. Our U11’s did themselves proud with great performances from all, our more experienced boys kicked some scores and defended bravely seeing us home with a 2-point win and on to a county final.
Final scoreline of 1:11 to 1:09
