Juvenile Academy:

A fantastic morning was had by all at our last Training session of the season on Sunday morning in Strand Rd Pitch. The children enjoyed a fun morning where different stations were set up including an obstacle course, football game, crossbar challenge and much more.

The children were presented with their well deserved medals by our very own David Moran. Thank you David we really appreciate you coming down the children were so excited to see you.

Huge thank you to our main sponsor Ballyseedy Home & Gardens for the beautiful spread of food teas and coffees for all to enjoy and to Catherine who served everybody. Thanks to our committee for organising treat bags for every child to enjoy.

Thanks to our amazing coaches not only for Sunday but for the whole season, you have all given so much to the children and our club. Thanks as well to Kathy, Claire, Marie, Frank, Kay, Paula, Tom and Nora for all your help and organising on the morning ensuring all ran smoothly.

Our U9 boys also had a great day out at the Munster Blitz in UL on Saturday. After some fantastic matches on the field, they enjoyed a well-deserved meal at McDonald’s. But the real highlight was the craic on the bus journey home!

So as we close the curtains on the 2023 season we would like to firstly thank our talented players who turned up to every training session and game with smiles on their faces and gave it everything they had.

They are a credit to our club and their parents. To our supportive parents who brought the children to every session and game, thank you. Thank you to our dedicated coaches who always made sure the children had fun while learning the key skills throughout.

Thank you to our wonderful Committee for all their organising and ensuring everything ran smoothly. And finally a massive thank you to our main Sponsor Ballyseedy Home and Garden for everything you have done for us from buying Jerseys and equipment to providing delicious food for our various events. We look forward to welcoming you all back again next season and enjoy the well deserved break everybody.

Minor and Under 15 end of season awards presentation will take place this coming Friday evening at 6.30pm in The Club. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Nótaí na mBan:

Last Tuesday, October 10th was World Mental Health Day.

Our aim always in our club is to promote positive wellbeing both physically and mentally, in our wonderful family orientated and vibrant club.

We were very fortunate in the past to have had workshops and talks pre Covid with the amazing Dr. Susan Lawlor and her late brother Dr. Martin Lawlor.

We also hold the Pieta Amber Flag which recognises our efforts to create a healthy, inclusive environment that supports mental well-being.  We strive to ensure all of our girls have fun, are included and are encouraged to participate.

Success for us is not measured in silverware but in how many girls come back the following year.

We thank all those who come to games and support our young ladies  and we always like to encourage a positive attitude on the sideline by coaches and supporters.

U12 GIRLS

When the U12 coaches met as a management team in January they agreed on a number of areas that they wanted to target for the girls, in particular following the difficult year most of them had:

• Enjoyment

• Skill Development

• Fitness

• Confidence / Self Belief

• Competitiveness

• Team Etiquette

The girls have improved in each of these areas and have gone way beyond what the coaches expectations were . They won a North Kerry Shield and went down in a division 4 final to Rathmore ( in one of the best underage games their coaches have seen) having won their 5 group games . This is simply down to the effort the girls put in and their eagerness to learn.

Well done and thanks to their coaches Adrian, Tricia, Mary and Richard for their dedication, encouragement of the girls and incredible commitment.

They wish to thank parents for the incredible support they give… Without this  the girls don’t get to training and games.

They also wish to thank the girls for their dedication, effort and determination since January, a credit to all of us.

Management said that it has been an absolute pleasure to coach such a wonderful bunch of girls.

They thanked everyone for such a wonderful year and hope everyone enjoys the break.

U12s “MYSTERY TRIP “

Curiosity was killing the girls as to where they were headed on their day out … the suspense was killing them as they sat on the bus and kept asking where they were going!

Keeping the surprise element for the girls had been very important to all involved as it added to the occasion..

Great craic, lots of laughs and smiles from our U12s who had an amazing “mystery trip” to Kenmare last Saturday. Little did they know they would be having a training session with Seánie O Shea and Killian Spillane when they set out on their journey that morning….

A fantastic day from start to finish… It was planned to treat the team to ice cream but the shop hadn’t yet opened  so it was decided to go Puccini’s Coffee & Books Kenmare for refreshments.

There were orders for hot chocolate, frappes, americanos etc. which all went down a treat. They still hadn’t been told what was happening and the lady in the coffee shop jokingly told them to enjoy their day on the broccoli farm (we had given her the heads up .)

We arrived back at the carpark and asked the girls to get their football gear. We then told them what we were doing. It still didn’t click with them as they looked on in surprise as they boarded a shuttle bus to go to the pitch in Kenmare.

Each and every young lady was overwhelmed as they went out on the pitch and were welcomed by Diarmuid O’ Connor, Seanie Shea and Killian Spillane. After a few photos they had a training session and a game with them followed by more photos and of course autographs.

Training with the Stars , a barbecue and ice cream in Killarney made it a fab day out for all!

Many thanks to Jean Tim O’ Sullivan for a wonderful time and for all of the work put in by everyone in organising this annual event in aid of St. Francis School, Beaufort. The Kerry players were brilliant with the girls and never rushed them. Thank you!  Great memories made for our terrific bunch of young ladies.

U13 DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

Congrats to the Tralee team , their coaches and our ladies Allie Kerins, Taylor Kate Leane , Niamh Lynch , Emma Onyekwere and our club’s  coach Tricia Moran who were all part of the U13 team who defeated Mid Kerry in the semifinal in John Mitchels last Saturday.

Best wishes for the final against West Kerry next Saturday, ( time and venue TBC) and hopefully the Tralee side can win the title.

Best wishes from all in Strand Road.
