KERRY Airport has released the Annual Report & Accounts for the 12-month period ended 31st December 2022 reporting an Operating Profit after Taxation for the period of €1,061,413 as compared to an after Taxation Operating Profit of €2,439,515 in the previous year.
Passenger numbers for 2022 finished at 356,141 which represents a 96.3% recovery from the highs of 2019 and the highest percentage recovery, in those terms, of any airport in the State. It also represents an increase of 240,743 on the 2021 passenger figures.
In the early months of 2023, the appetite amongst the public to recommence travelling is growing and the Directors predict a healthier year continuing the renewed growth trajectory.

Commenting on the financials and the on-going operations of the Airport for the year, John Mulhern, CEO of Kerry Airport, said: “A regional airport like Kerry Airport measures success not just by the health of its balance sheet but by its contribution to the wider economy.
“Our mission today, as it has always been, is to drive tourism and business into our Region. Ours is a rural economy with limited means and a relatively small population but a boundless appetite for growth. That charge is back on track and ahead of schedule with excellent passenger numbers in 2022 and expectations trending towards even greater heights in 2023.

The Airport operated satisfactorily throughout 2022, meeting and exceeding Safety and Security Protocols. The transition of the vehicular fleet to electric is almost complete and a detailed examination of on-campus energy generation has commenced.
John Mulhern thanked the Chairperson, Mr. Denis Cregan, and the Board of Directors, for their continued selfless support and direction, and the elected representatives in Kerry and the Department of Transport for their unwavering support throughout the year.
He also conveyed huge praise and thanks to the management and staff of Kerry Airport who understand more than many how indispensable the Airport is to the economy and thus toil so diligently to protect it.
