Kerry U15 team.

Munster u15:

The curtain came down on the Munster Juvenile Inter County with the U15 competition in MTU, Cork. Kerry had two teams entered.

The U15A team had a comprehensive win over Cork in their first match but went down to Clare in a hard fought semi-final. It was undoubtedly the match of the day, and the score line, acknowledged by Clare, did not do justice to the quality on display. Clare went to beat Cork in the final. Thanks to Mark, who looked after the team today.

The U15B topped their round robin pool and narrowly lost to Cork on aces in their semi-final. Again, thanks to Suzanne Sheehy, Jovita Delaney, and Tom Heaphy for their help today. Greatly appreciated.

It has been a long season since we started out last October with the development squads, but very rewarding all the same, to see our players able to compete and hold their own against the other countries. Many thanks to the players, parents, supporters, and coaches for their support throughout the year.

Final championship of the year:

Last night, Friday, the Division 2 & 4 Kerry Mixed Championships in association with CPC.ie took place. Unfortunately, this competition marked the end of the county championships in Kerry for the 2023/2024 season.

It was great to see such interest as always and a big thanks must be said to the Tralee club who were in charge of running the competition and even kept everyone happy with some tea and coffee upstairs for one and all.

Many thanks to Tom Bradley for taking such great photos throughout the year at each of the competitions and to all that were involved in the running and organising of each and every competition throughout the year.

Results are as follows:

Division 2 winners and runners up.

Division 2

Winner – Sam Hayes (Killarney) & Brendan McGovern (Killarney)

Runner Up – Michelle Beazley (Kingdom) & Ushas Raju (Tralee)

Division 4 winners and runners up.

Division 4

Winner – Eileen McCarthy (Moyvane) & Niall Hanlon (Moyvane)

Runner Up – Mary Mulcahy (Moyvane) & Kevin Thanasegaran (Tralee)

Kerry U17 team.

Munster u13 & u17

The Munster U13 and U17 Juvenile Inter County took place in UL, Limerick on Saturday March 16th.

Kerry had four teams entered and it was a day of mixed results for Kerry.

After first round success for the U13A and U17A teams against Waterford, both teams after some fine performances went out at the semi-finals.

The U13A teams went down 11-7 to Tipperary and the U17A also to Tipperary on a similar score. Tipperary went on to win against Clare in the U17A decider.

While there was disappointment all round for these two teams, they did themselves, and Kerry badminton proud.

Many thanks to Mark and Breda who looked after the teams, on the day.

While there was disappointment at one end of the hall for the A teams, the Kerry U13B and U17B, managed by Tom and Mary Bradley were quietly getting on with things.

With Limerick taking part for the first time in a number of years, it was a round robin (2 pools) for Kerry. They both topped their pools and progressed through their respective semi-finals and on to finals.

Kerry U13 team and supporters.

The U13B beat Clare 11-7and the U17B teams beat Waterford 11-5 . So, gold for Kerry after what proved to be a very long day, but worthwhile.

Many thanks again to the players, their clubs, families, supporters and our coaches who put a lot of time and work in with the teams. It is as always greatly appreciated.

The Brewster Cup team.

Brewster Cup 2024

The Brewster cup was held in the Presentation Secondary School Killarney on Sunday last. Waterford, Kerry and Cork fought it out in some very competitive badminton.

The Kerry team first came up against Cork where they just fell short in a very competitive game in which many of the games went to 3 sets and could’ve gone either way.

Cork won on a scoreline of 6games to 3.  Kerry then went on to play Waterford once again in a very close and competitive battle.

In the end, Kerry came out on top in the reverse of their first game winning 6 games to 3. In the end, Cork came out as champions and Kerry brought home the silver. Well done to all who played on the team
