Less Than Five COVID-19 Cases In Kerry, 462 Reported Nationally This Evening

THERE were less than five new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

When the number is less than five, the exact number is not revealed until the following day on the COVID data hub.

There were 39 additional deaths and 462 more cases reported nationally. 10 of these deaths occurred in March, 12 occurred in February, 13 in January, and 3 occurred earlier than this. One further death is under investigation.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 60.9 per 100,000 people. There have been 90 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 6.

Kerry is now the the county with the second lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days. Cork has the lowest. The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 190.2.

Meanwhile, Kerry has the second lowest COVID-19 death rate per head of population according to new figures published by the Central Statistics Office.

Data on COVID-19 deaths and infection rates up until mid-February showed that 41 people in Kerry lost their lives with the virus.

207 of today’s reported cases were in Dublin, 29 in Cork, 26 in Meath, 20 in Kildare, 18 in Galway and the remaining 162 cases are spread across all other counties.

There have now been 221,649 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,396  people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 460 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 107 are in ICU. There were 26 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of March 01, 446,474 doses of vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

• 303,550 people have received their first dose
• 142,924 people have received their second dose
