Less Than Five New COVID-19 Cases In Kerry, 311 Reported Nationally

THERE were less than five new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

When the number is less than five the exact number is not revealed until the following day on the COVID-19 data hub.

There were 30 additional deaths and 311 more cases reported nationally. Twelve deaths occurred in March, 13 in February, 4 in January and 1 is under investigation.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 67 per 100,000 people. There have been 99 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 6.

Kerry is now the county with the fourth lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days (after Leitrim, Cork and Kilkenny). The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 161.3.

135 in Dublin, 29 in Kildare, 21 in Cork, 18 in Limerick, 14 in Louth and the remaining 94 cases are spread across 16 other counties.

There have now been 223,997 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,452 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 397 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 95 are in ICU. There have been 24 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Saturday (6 March), there have been 523,069 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
• 373,149 people have received their first dose
• 149,920 people have received their second dose
