RehabCare Doon Residential service provides residential accommodation to five people with autism, intellectual disabilities, or mental health difficulties.

The establishment of the service in 2018 resulted from the process of decongregation, a focus of Irish healthcare policy for many years, whereby people with disabilities no longer live in institutionalised settings and are instead supported to live in more inclusive settings within the wider community.

Gráinne Fogarty, Director of Care at the Rehab Group, said: “The team at RehabCare Doon Residential Home is thrilled to receive this prestigious award. It is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the staff but also to the meaningful impact of decongregation.”

Andrea Browne, Residential Service Manager at RehabCare Doon Residential service, joined colleagues from across the sector at the ceremony to collect the award on behalf of the residents and staff.
