Na Gaeil Notes Monday July 2nd 2018

Seniors    Na Gaeil entertained Kilcummin in Round 8 of the Senior Football League on Sunday in Killeen. With Na Gaeil missing 10 of the team that started in the Junior Final this was always going to be an up- hill battle. Na Gaeil opened the scoring with a Dara Devine point in the 2nd minute and Kilcummin goalkeeper Brendan Kealy followed up with a pointed free in the 8th minute. Kilcummin totally dominated for the next fifteen minutes scoring 2-03 without reply; the goals coming from Damien O’Leary and John McCarthy. Dara Devine scored his second point for Na Gaeil on eighteen minutes. But Kilcummin winning the lion’s share of possession scored another 1-06 before the break with corner forward Jamie Lowham scoring a point for Na Gaeil. Half time score: Kilcummin: 3-09; Na Gaeil: 0-03.

Again Kilcummin scored the first 5 points of the 2nd half before Dara Devine pointed two frees for Na Gaeil. There was no stopping Kilcummin who scored at will from there to the final whistle with great points coming from Noel Duggan, Gary O’Leary, Ian Devane, James Nagle and Shane McSweeney.  Na Gaeil had further points through Dara Devine, Ian McCarthy, Dylan Seymour and Jamie Lowham. Final score Kilcummin: 3-22; Na Gaeil: 0-10. With Na Gaeil missing so many they still played with great energy and heart to the final whistle. Younger players Cian Quirke, Damien Bourke, Rory Murphy, Patrick Roche and Seamus Looney all acquitted themselves well.
