TEAM Hope are looking for the people of North Kerry to help them with their Shoebox appeal this year as it has had to move online this year due to COVID restrictions.

Throughout the years, the people of north Kerry, especially schoolchildren, have been incredible supporters of the Shoebox Appeal and this year, more than ever, every shoebox counts.

Unfortuantely due to Covid-19 restrictions it is not possible to send gift-filled shoboxes from Ireland. Instead, Team Hope have moved the Shoebox campaign completely online.

They have developed a brand new website: www.teamhope.ie where you can donate money to the Shoebox Appeal and create your own virtual shoebox if you wish.

The online donations will allow Team Hope’s network of partners based in Africa and Eastern Europe to purchase items for the shoeboxes locally, and then deliver the gift-filled shoeboxes directly into the hands of children affected by poverty in those countries.

“I personally had the pleasure of witnessing the sheer joy, excitement and appreciaton of kiddies receiving a shoebox on my trip with Team Hope to Romania in 2018,” said Helen O’Connell Team Hope Co-Ordinater for North Kerry/West Limerick.

“This year has been hard on us all, so you can only imagine how hard it has been on these little children who already have so little. Your shoebox to them is likely to be the only gift they will recieve this Christmas.”

“That trip was amazing, but also bitter-sweet. Sweet, by virtue of the fact that it was wonderful to bring love and happiness to the children (all thanks to your generosity!) but bitter and heartbreaking to see the poverty. So please, again this year, do what you can to make a difference in a child’s life.”
